June 2011 Greetings in the Precious Name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ .... the Name above all names! Can you even believe that this year, 2011, is half over .... seems it just began. Here we are in what is called "June Gloom" .... for those who do not live in California .... and think there is always lots of sunshine, especially during the month of June .... actually it's not always true. I'm sure many tourists are disappointed when they come here for great weather in June .... but often find something else. Another month of Ministry .... my wonderful life! I'm so excited for the assignment God gave me .... to speak and sing about His Son Jesus Christ. Often, I see how folk in the audience are touched .... tears flow as they listen to me minister a newer, happy song or a precious hymn of the church .... when songs are written using words of Scripture .... that is what happens .... because God's Word works. Isaiah 55:11 - My Word that goes from My mouth: it will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it. On June 4th, there was a special party for a wonderful dear friend, Mother Mary Ellen Strong, she celebrated her 90th birthday. I call her my mentor .... spending time with her brings me closer to Jesus.
God gives me many opportunities to minister in different denominations .... and that blesses me. I am told that the joy that I bring to their services is very special .... thank God for His Joy. I am so aware that God is in control of everything in my life and yours .... so there is no need for us to worry or fret over circumstances .... He will carry us through everything. Hebrews 13:6 - We can say with confidence, "The Lord is My Helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?" As I mentioned in my last newsletter .... I am planning to record a new .... and perhaps "my last CD." |

We have a very modern state-of-the-art large Senior Center here in Rancho, a place for all kinds of activities .... a gym .... meals are served each day .... field trips and cruises are planned for those interested .... there is something for everyone. One of the things presented yearly is called "Senior Follies." It is a production featuring those who are over 65 years of age and have talent .... there will be singers, dancers, actors, actresses, etc. I heard about the tryouts .... went to see if there was a place for me on the program .... the director seemed pleased with my audition .... and when he learned I was a former member of the Edwin Hawkins Singers and our hit song in 1969 was "Oh Happy Day" .... that's what he wanted me to sing .... I suggested we put together a choir .... he said "Yes" and even suggested they wear robes, Mark 16:15 - Jesus said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the Good News to all creation." Remember, as you are planning your fall schedule .... I can come to minister in Word/Song (one or the other, or both). I am grateful for my friends .... it is with joy that I count you as a friend .... some for many years .... some for a short time .... and some of you I never even met .... but think about it, one day we will all be in Heaven if we have asked Jesus to become the Saviour of our souls and have made that eternal decision, committing all to His keeping. When I drive down the street and see houses that still have their Christmas decorations .... I say to myself "well very soon, they will not have to worry about doing that .... for the lights are already in place."
